ATTENTION!!! The White Rose has achieved DVD of the month with Combat Magazine (August Edition).

If you wish to purchase a copy, please do so before the end of the month, otherwise you will miss the August Issue!! Copies are available from places such as, WHSMITH or any supporting newsagent.

Due to Ashley taking over the newsletter it will be updated regularly throughout the month giving different news and also conducting interviews between student and Dan grades.

This month Sensei Riley is in the firing line and is willing to answer any questions you may have. Please keep it sensible and whomever the Dan grade is, please maintain respect at all times. Students are permitted to ask more than one question so please e-mail, ashley@whiteroseaikido.com with your questions.

The Interview will be published on the 20th August 2005.

There will be a course and grading on the 3rd September 2005 at silcoates school, Wrenthorpe. Directions to the venue will be given if required, closer to the date.

IF YOU WISH TO TAKE EXAMINATION ON THE 3RD SEPTEMBER, PLEASE INFORM YOUR CLUB INSTRUCTOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR GRADING.

If you decide you wish to take examination with less than 2 weeks to go, there is a possibility you will be too late, and you will be asked to wait until the next grading day.

This is to allow Jackie sufficient time to deal with the administration needed for those who have requested examination.

The 22nd July saw Sensei Riley travel upto Sunderland along with some students, to teach a 2 hour class. After the class they all went out on the town for a few beers and then headed back to Keith's house for an entertaining evening talking and watching Aikido videos late into the night. Sensei Riley would like to thank Keith for the accommodation arrangements and also the students who accompanied him to Sunderland. Sensei Riley also mentioned that, Sensei Hesletine and Sensei Cassidy are building a good strong group of Aikidoka in the northeast and was very impressed.

As Sensei Riley may have mentioned at the end of his classes, we do need volunteers for moving the mats from Sensei Danford's lock up to Silcoates school on the 3rd September. If you are available please see either Mark Danford or Ashley and they will give you details of times and places to meet up on the morning of the course. There is some disappointment however due to the lack of offers of help we have had. This course is for everyone's enjoyment and we would appreciate some more volunteers for the movement of the mats.

In July Mi Magazine asked Sensei Riley if they could do an interview with one of his students for the August issue following his recent successful interview. They were very impressed with Sensei Riley and as a result they decided it would be an advantage to speak to one of Sensei's students and find out how his instruction has had an effect on them and their Aikido. We have been told that the article will be online within the next few days. This is just another example of how popular the White Rose has become and as such we should all be proud to be a part of it.

As some of you may already know, Sensei has postponed his 30th anniversary drinks and will notify us of a new date in due course.

If anyone would like their hakama embroidering, please see Ashley as soon as possible as he is making a trip over to Halifax with some of the other students hakama's. Embroidery is £12.00 and for this you will get the White Rose in katakana and also your name.

There is now a facility on the website to buy the club DVD through us using Paypal, which supports all credit card transactions. The current price is set at £17.99, which is the price for non club members. If you require a DVD, as a club member, you can purchase one for £15.00. Please contact Ashley before using the online shop.

And finally, congratulations to Andrew Thornton on the arrival of his new baby boy James on the 21st May 2005.
