Sensei Riley Teaching in Durham

Firstly I would like to thank Sensei Riley for coming up to teach a class in Durham on the 28th of January. Sensei Riley was accompanied by Paul Derrick, Mark Danford as well Terry to attend the class. The class was well attended by a large number of local students who thoroughly enjoyed the class, especially the students who had not had the chance to be taught by Sensei Riley previously.

Sensei Riley taught a very technical class mainly focussing on posture and tegatana. Sensei Riley main these for the class was techniques originating from Morote Dori (two handed grab). The class started off with basic exercises from Tai No Henko and Tsuki Ashi. As the class progressed the exercies led into a number of tecniques including Ikkyo, Nikkyo, Sokumen Iriminage.

Following the class Sensei Riley accompanied along with the other senior students who had travelled up with him to one of the local pubs in durham to wind down. Hopefully we will see Sensei Riley teaching in Durahm in the near future.

As mentioned in the previous newsletter there is only going to be three courses this year and the first one has been organised for the 6th of April at Wakefield City High School which is becoming a common venue for courses in the Hudderfield Area.
