June 9th Course

I have been informed by Sensei Riley that a course is planned to take place on Sunday the 9th of June at Wakefield City High School.  The course is due to start at 10.30 am and will finish at about 4 pm; these times are not definite and will be confirmed in next month’s newsletter.   The course is going to be taught by Sensei Ken Cottier a long time friend of Sensei Riley and White Rose who was recently promoted to 7th Dan at the New Year Celebrations in Hong Kong.   For those of you have not had the pleasure of being taught by Sensei Cottier I encourage you to do so.  The cost for the course will be £20 or £15 if you are a student.

There is also a social event taking place in the evening, no details for this have been confirmed however as soon as anything is known it will be posted in next months newsletter.

Passing of Norman Wynn

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the passing of Norma Wynn.  Norman Wynn was a friend of Sensei Riley and White Rose.  Sensei Riley met Norman Wynn in 1996 in Hong Kong and has been close friends with him ever since.  All of us at White Rose Aikikai extend our deepest sympathies to his family.

Sensei Riley 50th Birthday Celebration.

On the social side Sensei Riley celebrated his 50th birthday with a social evening in Huddersfield which was attended by over 100 students and friends including Sensei Heseltine who had travelled down for the occasion.  An enjoyable evening was had by all who attended.
