Durham 20th October Course

On the 20th of October a course was held in Durham which was taught by Sensei Riley. The course was well attended by both the local students from Durham as well as a number of students who had travelled up from Huddersfield to attend the course.

Sensei Riley focussed on strong basics for the duration of the course due to the high number of Kyu grades that were present on the course. Sensei Riley taught a variety of techniques including Ikkyo, Iriminage and Kaitenage.

In the morning a large number of Kyu gradings took place which was preceded over by Sensei Bernard Maloney and in the afternoon there were two senior gradings.  I am glad to say that both the students taking their senior gradings passed

So congratulations to Colin and Ian as well as all of the other Kyu grades who graded on the course.

Durham 20th October Course Social

Following the course a social evening was organised in Durham by Sensei Cassidy. The evening consisted of a few drinks in one of the local pubs to watch England play South Africa in the Rugby; although England did not win an enjoyable evening was had by all who attended.

8th December Wakefield Course

Another course has been organised by Sensei Riley for the 8th of December at Wakefield City High School. The guest instructor for the course will be Sensei Peter Alexander who many of you will know as Sensei Cottier's uchidesh so I know everyone will make Sensei Alexander feel welcome. The times for the course will be 10.30am and will finish at 4pm. 

Sensei Riley has also informed me that during the course Japan Promotion will have a stall selling top quality Bokken and Jo as well as a variety of other merchandise. So if you have recently started training and wish to purchase weapons the course will be an excellent opportunity to do so.
