In our previous newsletter we informed you of the sad passing of Shihan Ken Cottier earlier this year. We have since created a memorial section in dedication to him. This includes a write up by Sensei Riley and a gallery containing photos and footage of Shihan Cottier.

Autumn Course

On the 20th September Sensei Riley taught a course in Durham. This was well attended by both Local Students, White Rose Members who had travelled from Yorkshire as well a number of students from other associations.  
Sensei Riley started off the course with some Bokken Suburi and this remained the theme throughout the day.  A number of techniques were taught throughout the day including Iriminage, Ikkyo and Kote-gaeshi.
There were a small number of kyu gradings taking place for students from Rothwell and we are pleased to say that they all passed. Well done to those students!
In the evening Sensei Riley and some of his students from Yorkshire stayed for the evening and joined Sensei Heseltine and a number of his students in Durham to sample the local beers. 
We would like to thank Sensei Riley and all the students who came to Durham for contributing to a very enjoyable course!

Christmas Course

There is a Christmas course on the 29th November at Dewsbury Sports Centre. This will be taught by Shihan Terry Bayliss 7th Dan.  

The course will start at 11:00am and finish at 4:00pm. The cost of the course for White Rose Members is going to be £20 and £15 for students. The cost for none members is £25.

Memberships

Membership administration for the White Rose has recently been taken over by Mark Danford from Simon Long. 

Our thanks go to Simon for managing the memberships over the past few years!

Terry Ezra and Kazuo Nomura Course

There is a non White Rose Course being held on November 15th/16th at Spennymoor Leisure Centre.  

This will be hosted by Shihan Terry Bayliss of the Komyokan Aikido Association with guest instructor Shihan Kazuo Nomura.

Nomura Sensei is the Senior Instructor of the Osaka Aikikai. He has never taught in England before.

The course will cost £32.50 per day or £50 for both days. There will be discounts if you pre-book your place on the course.
