Late December 2005

Firstly this month we would like to thank Sensei Cottier for his visit to the White Rose and the fantastic seminar on the 10th December. As usual, an inspiration to us all and we look forward to him visiting us again soon.

Also on the 10th December, two students from the White Rose took their Shodan examinations. We would like to congratulate the successful candidates,

Ashley Scholefield - awarded Shodan.

Tim Gerrard - awarded Shodan.

Also we would like to thank all outside associations for visiting us on the 10th December. We hope you all enjoyed the seminar and we hope to see you all again in the near future.

New Club T-Shirt.

Sensei Riley now has the new club T-Shirts. These T-Shirts are of the best quality manufactured by Red Lizard and will sell (as the DVD) very fast indeed. Obviously those who put their name down for one will get priority, however, Sensei Riley has ordered some for stock, so there should be plenty to go around.

If you wish to secure a T-Shirt immediatly please go to the online store (accessible through the contents page) and place your order there.

The White Rose Aikikai Christmas Party.

Thankyou to everyone who came to the Christmas party on the evening of the 10th December. As usual we had a terrific time with Sensei Cottier coming round and having a chat with everyone there.

Durham 5th December 2005.

On the 5th December, Sensei Riley, Sensei Derrick, Terry Crompton and Ashley Scholefield travelled upto Durham to attend the Monday night class.
Because we were not supposed to be there until 7pm, we decided to stop for a well deserved McDonalds on the way up. With a number of McDonalds burgers inside us, we carried on to the class, arriving at 7pm, to find it had already begun.

On Sensei Riley's arrival into the dojo the students stopped what they were doing and seemed quite shocked that he had arrived. Obviously some horror stories had got out to some of the students which them left them thinking what was to come when Sensei had got changed and onto the mat. The class was very informative with Sensei Riley once again on top form.

I have been asked by several of the Northeast students to thank Sensei Riley for another excellent class.

Thankyou Sensei.

Class between Christmas and New Year.

The class in between Christmas and New Year is to be held at the Budokai in Mirfield on the 28th December.
If you would like to attend this class, you MUST inform Ashley as soon as possible. Numbers are limited due to mat space so if you wish to attend, get your name down. If Ashley does not attend your class then either email at ashley@whiteroseaikido.com or ask your club instructor to get in touch with your details.

Dan Grade Interviews.

As mentioned in the last newsletter, Janet Hajdysz 4th Dan is next for interview. Janet is to be the last Yudansha to be interviewed for the website so please get your questions in.

Due to Janet being the most Senior ranking female Aikidoka within the White Rose Aikikai, I am sure she will have much to share with us, especially for female Aikidoka currently training and moving up in rank.

The interview will be published on the site in January.

Tuesday Class Gradings.

We would like to congratulate all students who took examination on the 13th December at the Tuesday class.
All Students were successful and yet again showed to the grading comittee that they had trained hard and come prepared.

Well Done everyone.

Which Martial Art?

The White Rose Aikikai has been asked to provide information for a website designed for people thinking about or wanting to take up a martial art. The site is aimed at all martial arts, however we are providing the Aikido information for them.

You can view the articles written so far by clicking here.

New White Rose DVD.

Finally, the new association DVD has now been completed and is currently in production. We will keep you informed of the progress and when it will be available to purchase.
