Martial Arts Illustrated

Review 2005

This fantastic interview by Neil Hall at Martial Arts Iillustrated goes into more depth then ever before with Sensei Shane Riley 6th Dan.

The interview is yet another great achievement for Sensei Riley and the White Rose Aikikai. In this interview Sensei Riley talks about his early days from when his father encouraged him into the martial arts to his robust training in wado ryu karate with Sensei Dave Hemming 5th Dan.

From there he goes on to discuss his early days in Aikido and the journey he has been on for over 30 years. Sensei Riley is as described the "traditionalist" when it comes to his style of Aikido and in this interview it becomes more clear how he teaches differently now to how he taught many years ago.

Sensei Riley, Richard Haigh

From stepping onto the tatami at the White Rose Aikikai, you can see how the traditional form of Aikido is still portrayed, with Sensei Riley's style still very much in keeping with etiquette, discipline, hard training, and precision teaching.

A very well respected Sensei with many years of Aikido experience behind him.

Read how Sensei Riley has gained the respect of senior instructors within the UK and around the world through this exceptional association he has created, the White Rose Aikikai.
