April 6th Course Course

On Sunday the 6th of April we held our spring course at Wakefield City High School.

The training began with Derrick Sensei teaching a variety of techniques that were all based around flowing movement, including a number of kokyunage and kotegaeshi variations as well as some yonkyo and nikkyo projections.

After a short water break Riley Sensei taught the remainder of the morning and the early part of the afternoon. The emphasis was on both the traditional and the more practical aspects of ushiro ryote dori. Several techniques in tanto dori were also shown and practised.

In the afternoon we had two senior gradings: 1st kyu and shodan. I am glad to say both candidates passed:

Chris Laycock - 1st Kyu.

Chris Wright – Shodan.

While the senior grading panel were deliberating, Sensei Hadjick taught several practical and self defence variations on sokumen Iriminage and how to negate a collar grab to finish off the course. I would like to say a thank you to all the instructors who taught at the course. There is another course planed in the summer, as soon as more details are known you will be informed.

Dave Beaumont.

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the passing of Dave Beaumont. Dave was a long-time friend of White Rose and a close friend of so many within the organisation, both on and off the mat and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts go to Dave's family at this time.

Henka Waza DVD

The second DVD by White Rose is due to be released soon. I have spoken to Riley Sensei who has informed me that the price will be £18.99 plus postage and packing. If you want more information you can either email us or speak to your club instructor.

Memberships

Memberships were due at the end of March, so if you haven’t paid yet you must do so quickly. I am afraid if you have not paid you will not be able to continue training until you do so. If you have any questions about this contact us and will be help you in anyway we can
