Keith began training in both judo and karate at an early age, but after several years became disillusioned, as he felt that his height and build did not suit these arts.
After witnessing a demonstration of aikido at a local martial arts exhibition, Keith decided that this was a martial art that might suit him and he began practicing under the direction of Dave Mahon 3rd Dan at the age of fifteen. He continued training for several years, eventually being awarded his shodan.
Keith left the Kobukan Aikido Association in 1999 to seek a new direction in his aikido training; he also began practicing other arts during this time.
In 2003 Keith began practicing with Heseltine Sensei and joined White Rose Aikikai soon after.
He was promoted to Sandan (3rd Dan) by Riley Sensei in December 2006.
