I started martial arts in the early 70's with Karate. I did some competition fighting and really enjoyed it. Then I saw an Aikido demonstration on T.V. and was really impressed; it was this and a demonstration at a sports centre that got me into Aikido. I started training with the B.A.F. (British Aikido Federation) and eventually ran the class in Bradford.
My circumstances changed and I left the B.A.F and decided to ring Sensei Riley who I had met and trained with on various occasions. I asked him if I could train with the White Rose club and the rest, as they say, is history. I have trained with many Senior instructors and in my youth was uke for Sensei Kenetsuka and Sensei Ezra (happy days ha ha).
I have recently been awarded my 5th Dan and I hope I’m going to be around for a while yet! We have a good organisation, good instructors and good students and I’m happy to be part of it.
